Out for a Real Ride

I went on a ride through Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge and took the bike through the back roads to my godparents house in Carbondale.  We are looking forward to warmer weather to go even further.  More importantly, I am ready for Bobbie to go with me.

Our First Ride

Buuurrrr!  It was chilly but we went on our first ride yesterday.  We went to lunch downtown and then went to visit an old friend and former Goldwing tourer.  We then came home and suited Christopher up to go.  He squealed with excitement as I sped up and on the road.  He absolutely loved it.  We can't wait for warm weather to really give it a whirl! 

Easy Rider!

Well, a funny thing happened on the way to buying my lower-priced, used, two wheel motorcycle...  I was ready to make a deal on a 05 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe when I took Bobbie with me to look at some others.  They had a Goldwing Trike on the showroom floor.  After she sat on that, my search for anything other than a Goldwing was essentially over :-)  That trike was not going to do as it had some mechanical and electrical problems.  We began an extensive search and found "Ole Blue."  This is my...excuse me..."our" new motorcycle.  It is a 2007 Honda Goldwing GL1800.  It has 24K miles on it.  I will be the third owner, after the first owner lost it in a divorce and the second wants a brand-spankin-new one.  The prior owner owns several car washes in the area so the bike was well kept.  We are now waiting for warm weather to go on our first ride.  Today we will be making our first trip up to Niehaus Cycle in Litchfield, IL to buy helmets and such.
